A Sanctuary Without Walls
In many cities, Gaushalas have unintentionally become “cow prisons” — small, concrete enclosures where cows are confined with no room to roam or graze. At Shri Shyam Sunder Gaushala, we believe that healing begins with freedom. We chose our location in the heart of the village specifically so that every injured, sick, or abandoned cow brought to us can breathe fresh air and feel the earth beneath her hooves.
Our family of 500 cows (and growing) does not live behind bars. Every single day, they head out into the vast open lands to roam. They are never alone — accompanied by eight dedicated Gausevaks who ensure their safety and care. This natural lifestyle is the secret to our Gauvansh’s health and spirit.
We lease vast tracts of land from local farmers specifically for grazing — a natural environment that keeps our cows physically strong and mentally peaceful.
We follow a sacred rule: every drop of a mother cow’s milk belongs to her calf. By ensuring calves are well-fed, we raise a future generation of strong, healthy cows and bullocks.
We are one of the few sanctuaries that actively train male calves — giving them a life of purpose and protecting them from the tragic fate many male cattle face.
Using compost and Gaumutra, we practice and promote organic, cow-based farming — inspiring local villagers to abandon harmful chemicals and restore the soil.
Located in Village Kandhauli, every gift the cow gives — from dung to labor — benefits the local community, creating a sustainable cycle of life.
Shri Shyam Sunder Gaushala is dedicated to child development, women’s empowerment, and local job creation — with the cow at the centre of it all.
We don’t just offer shelter; we offer a vision. We invite you to witness a place where the “lost glory” of the cow is being restored through practical, holistic, and heart-centered action.
Be part of a sanctuary unlike any other — where every cow roams free,
every calf is nourished, and every life is treated as sacred.
