In the heart of Bundelkhand, a crisis unfolded in silence. Cows abandoned, wandering, wounded — and a community that refused to look away. Bhoorishringa Foundation was born from that refusal. Today, Shri Shyam Sunder Gaushala in Village Kandhauli stands as a permanent sanctuary for over 500 Gauvansh — rescued, healed, and loved. This is their story. This is our seva.
The Silent Crisis of Bundelkhand
A heartbreaking practice known as Anna Pratha had left countless cows abandoned and wandering across Bundelkhand. In a desperate bid to protect their livelihoods, local farmers turned to razor-sharp fencing. For a hungry cow searching for food, these wires became a death trap.
We witnessed firsthand the devastating reality: cows suffering from deep, untreated lacerations and enduring a slow and agonizing end without any medical intervention from the community.
A Sanctuary of Healing
The Bhoorishringa Foundation was born from the refusal to look away. Our volunteers ventured into remote villages of Hamirpur district to take immediate action. What began as a humble medical initiative in Village Terha has grown into a life-saving mission.
Today, Shri Shyam Sunder Gaushala in Village Kandhauli serves as a permanent sanctuary. Here, cows that were once broken and bleeding now live in peace while receiving treatment and compassionate care.
A Holistic Vision for the Future
Our goal extends far beyond providing shelter. We are building a complete ecosystem for the cow and her progeny. We believe the cow is intrinsically linked to the four Purusharthas:
Instead of theoretical approaches, our focus is on practical and sustainable solutions that restore the cow to her rightful glory in society and rural economy.
Join Our Divine Service
But we cannot do this alone. Whether through your time, prayers, or financial support, you can help us end the cycle of pain for these sacred beings.
